Something Kids Can Give You For Mother’s Day

something kids can give you for mother's day

Yesterday at the grocery store, I asked the woman checking me out if she was looking forward to Mother’s Day.

She told me she had to work on Sunday, and both of her children lived far away.

“So,” she said, “I made sure to go get myself a manicure.”

Honestly, can’t we all relate?

Very few Mother’s Days are ideal. Most of you are in the thick of motherhood, and as we know so well, this season can be incredibly hard. Some of you are navigating these challenges while also missing your own mother. Many of us (perhaps all of us) worry that we are falling short. No wonder Mother’s Day can make us feel a little tender!

We love this woman’s simple response to Mother’s Day. Her day wasn’t going to be perfect, but she wasn’t waiting for perfection. She was planning a few small joys she could control.
And that is our Mother’s Day suggestion to you. Plan a few simple joys for yourself this weekend:
  • Wake up early and go for a walk.
  • Make a playlist of songs you love.
  • Write down a few things you’re proud of yourself for.
  • Take a break from social media.
  • Wear a flower in your hair.
And here’s one more idea (A.K.A. potential Mother’s Day gift!) from us:
Print the attached PDF and hand it to the best writer in your house (or to your spouse) WITHOUT LOOKING AT IT. It has simple instructions to help your kids write you something meaningful for Mother’s Day.

We won’t spoil the surprise, but trust us—you’re going to love it.

Sometimes the best gifts come when we take gifting matters into our own hands.
