We love this so much because not only does it give your family a way to honor American servicemen and women, it gives kids a REAL AUDIENCE for their writing. Writing a letter that is going to be delivered to a real-life soldier? Come on! That’s the best!
Here’s the LETTER WRITING GUIDE I use with my students. It includes patriotic stationery, sentence starters, and an annotated example based on the letter guidelines from OPERATION GRATITUDE.
When you’re finished, fill out the donation form HERE. (You will need to keep scrolling a bit to find the LETTER donation section. It’s awesome to browse through the wish list though, in case your family wants to donate other items too!)
If you’re sending more than one, bundle them together instead of putting them in separate envelopes!
Also, if you’re writing with young writers, you might like these pages from Operation Gratitude. They still have lines for letter writing but also include a coloring page.
This simple activity can show our kids what my dad tried to
teach me with visits to Uncle Harold: soldiers deserve our thanks.
Writing is a way to express it!
WRITE ON!

currently deployed soldiers, and first responders.
