Tell us if you agree with this one: scary can be fun . . . but only when kids feel safe!
We’re thinking like reading a scary book but safe in bed. Or walking through a haunted house but holding Mom’s hand. Or jumping at the sight of Frankenstein but knowing it’s probably Dad.
It’s the fun of the scare that makes October so great right? And when kids have a pen in their hand and get to be the author of the scare . . . it can be October fun X 10.
So, in the name of scary fun, we know your kids are dying to write scary stories this month. That’s why we made you this Spooky Story Planner. Your kids can easily plan out a scary story by rolling a dice and discovering a character, setting, problem, and extra spooky challenge. It gives kids the perfect ideas for scary . . . but not too scary!
Your older kids can take this planner and just go to it! If you’re writing with littles, you can be the scribe and they can be the illustrator. (OR . . . give your older kids the chance to be their writing mentor!)
If you already have our Spooky Tales Writer’s Box, this Spooky Story Planner will work perfectly with it! In addition to Halloween story guidance, this box has playful ideas for writing from scary Halloween decor and an “RIP” for those pesky adverbs “really” and “very.” Plus, there is the BEST Halloween booklist from @keepabookout and scary (but not too scary) Halloween writing prompts.
